Based off of One Mind Dogs, trainer Janita Leinonen's program, this new class builds the foundations for a successful agility career. Open to puppies 12 weeks and older with no prior obedience experience required. The focus of this class is teaching the puppies that agility is fun while ensuring no damage is done to their growing joints. All exercises are done on the flat or over jump bars laid on the ground.
Older dogs, and dogs that have had previous agility experience are welcome to register for the class as dogs can never have enough foundation work!
This class stresses the proper foundations of each obstacle, with emphasis on learning the safe completion of the obstacles. We use proven techniques to teach reliable stops on the Aframe and dog walk and various methods to teach an independent weave performance. Running small courses of three or four obstacles is also introduced in this class. (This class is for dogs 9 months of age or older that have successfully completed a Basic Obedience class.)
This class builds upon the skills learned in Beginner I, with emphasis on building speed and confidence, especially on the contacts and weaves. Handling skills such as lead outs and crosses are introduced and students learn sequencing and may run small courses.
This class is all about handling! Dogs should be proficient and confident on all obstacles as this class focuses on course analysis and handling skills. Handlers will work to master obstacle discrimination's, serpentine's and distance work. Rules and regulations of the different agility organizations will be discussed, as well as the different classes at agility trials. We also play some of the games that are seen at CPE trials!
